New England Patriots are accused of cheating in a game in New Jersey.

The Patriots beat the New York Jets 38-14 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. But the team is subsequently charged with attempting to visually record the Jets’ signals in violation of league rules. In the subsequent scandal that comes to be called “Videogate,” head coach Bill Belichick is fined $500,000, the Patriots are fined $250,000, and the team loses its first-round pick in the 2008 draft.
